I just love local designer Paula Walden. Not only are her pieces just beautiful, but so is she and we are lucky enough that she often models her collections (!). You can find select pieces at Bessie Head at Broadway on the Mall, or head to her Facebook page here for stockist details and to view her collections. And she will be showing her collection as part of Fashion at 10 at the Hilton on 13 October – just in time for Melbourne Cup.
This gloomy weather has made me yearn for spring and summer to arrive even more, and these amazingly styled shots for Sass & Bide eyewear (modelled by some familiar faces!) have further heightened my anticipation. Tanned skin, singlets, smiles, sunkissed hair, and super cool sunglasses … that’s what summer is all about. And if you haven’t heard already – Sass & Bide are opening their first ever store in Brisbane City next week at QueensPlaza – spring/summer here we come!
The Chronicles of Never and Black Noise White Rain sale hits Brisbane this Friday and Saturday. Head to 692 Ann St, Fortitude Valley from midday – 7pm on Friday and 10am – 5pm on Saturday to get your hands on mens and womens autumn/winter 2011 end of season and sample pieces, including basics, denim and footwear.

Yes it’s that time of year again. The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival kicks off in Brisbane this weekend. Starting with Akira and ending with Easton Pearson, this year’s festival is just as big as ever. Highlights include the Emerging Designer Group Show, The City Fashion Flash (free each day in the Queen Street Mall) and QUT’s Fashion After Hours. Make sure you get your tickets this week before they sell out!
… spring is on its way. It’s my favourite time of the year as it feels like the world starts to wake up again after months of hibernation. And there are so many exciting things going on in Brisbane that you don’t really have an excuse not to get out. Here’s what’s on my list for the next week.
Molten Store – I mentioned it in my last post but I have to mention it again as this store is so damn gorgeous! I want everything. Get shopping!
oh hello – I know it’s not technically ‘fashion’, but I can’t help but mention this new bar that is opening in the Valley tonight. Owned by one of my lovely friends, I’m super excited to check out the new venue that was previously home to old faithful, the Monestry. I can already see this place being my new favourite haunt.
Threadbare – Another online boutique owned by some Brisbane locals. It looks like it’s going to be amazing! Designers that will be on offer include Ellery, Josh Goot and Gala Curious. Stay tuned for more details and the launch date …
Ellery Pop Up Sale – And speaking of Ellery … tomorrow and over the weekend head to The Cottage at 67 James St in the Valley for items from the Ellery archive, runway samples, as well as rare highly covetable pieces from past seasons. All at a smidgen of their former price. Yay!
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane – I’ll post more about this soon. But if you haven’t already, make sure you purchase your tickets to what will be another great week of local and national fashion in Brisbane, kicking off on 20 August.
Zimmermann – Why oh why do you do this to me? I may have just spent way too much money on their new collection. And I may have bought the mustard leather skirt. But can you really blame me? Check out the collection at the QueensPlaza store today, if you dare.
Molten Store is a new online boutique created by amazing local gal Jessy Cameron. We are just totally and utterly in love with everything on this site and wanted to let you all know about it (but shhh please don’t tell everyone!). Offering a well-edited range of unique jewellery, fragrances and leather goods, this store is unlike any other you would have seen … with amazing designers including Estelle Deve, Rachel Pfeffer x Molten Store, Low Luv by Erin Wasson and Maripossa, you will leave the site not only poorer, but inspired …
Just thought I’d give you an update on all the goings on in The City, as a lot has been happening! If you haven’t heard already, Chanel will be opening very soon at QueensPlaza, this is the first Chanel store to open in Queensland and we are so excited! Also at QueensPlaza, a bigger and brighter Mimco store recently opened, an updated Mecca Cosmetica is opening soon, Australia’s largest Witchery, including womens, mens and childrenswear will open in the coming month, and one of our faves, Sass and Bide, is opening a flagship boutique! Apartment recently reopened on Charlotte Street, The Bunker Boutique moved from Camp Hill into The City on George Street a few weeks ago, and Zomp is opening soon (shoes!). Like we said, a lot is going on, so make sure you get out there and check it out soon! Visit www.bnecity.com.au for more info and to keep up-to-date.
